YEARBOOKS ARE HERE!!!
There are still some yearbooks available for sale in the school office. The cost is $15 per yearbook (cash or check payable to PLS Boosters). Another big thank you to Mrs. Rowe, for being our yearbook coordinator!
There are still quite a few opportunities to volunteer this school year. Remember, a total of 30 volunteer hours are due by the end of this school year (any unfulfilled hours will be billed out at $20 per hour.) Please contact the school office if you are able to help out with any of the following activities.
Booster Meeting: Thursday, May 25, 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Pre-K & K Family Picnic: Friday, June, 2, 10:00am to 12:00pm
Campus Clean Up Day: Saturday, June 3, 9:00am to ?
School Picnic (grades 1 thru 8): Thursday, June 8, 12:00pm to 3:00pm
There are also a variety of odd jobs that need to be done around campus at a mutually agreeable time. These job requests are located outside of the school office.
PLS MAY PROGRAM
Wednesday, May 24, at 10:00am and 7:00pm, students in grades Pre-K thru 8 will be performing We Sing of America. Come join us for this fun, patriotic evening of entertainment. Everyone is invited to attend both performances in the Ark!
CHAPEL DAY CHANGE THIS WEEK
This week’s Chapel Day is Thursday, May 25. Please be sure your child is dressed in their chapel attire this Thursday.
NEXT BOOSTER MEETING
The last Booster meeting of the year is this Thursday, May 25. At this meeting, next years’ President, Vice President, and Secretary Positions will be voted into office. A nomination envelope is located in the school office if you would like to nominate someone, or even yourself! Remember, the nominee must be willing to be nominated.
NO UNIFORM DAY
No Uniform Day is Friday, May 26. The cost is $5 per student (checks payable to PLS Boosters). If your child would like to participate, please see Mrs. Straling in the school by this Wednesday, May 24.
LAST POPCORN FRIDAY
Friday, May 26, will be our last Popcorn Friday. A special thank-you to Mr. and Mrs. Waller!
LAST CHANCE – BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
This Friday, May 26, is the last day to submit your Box Tops for Education for this school year. The PLS student who has collected the most Box Tops during this school year will be announced next week and will receive a prize! For a list of participating Box Top products, please click on the link below. Thank you in advance for your support of our school!
ELHS POPS CONCERT AND GRADUATION
Everyone is invited to the Evergreen Lutheran Pops Concert on Friday, June 2, at 7:00pm and the graduation ceremony for the ELHS Class of 2017 on Saturday, June 3, at 2:00pm. ELHS is located on the corner of 72nd St. & Waller Road in Tacoma, WA.
CAMPUS CLEAN-UP DAY
Saturday, June 3, at 9:00am, the Board of Trustees will be having their annual Campus Clean-Up Day. If you have not completed your Volunteer Hours for this school year, this is a great way to get them done! There will be a variety of jobs that need to be done both indoors and out, from weeding and sprucing up the grounds, to cleaning classrooms & washing windows. If you are able to help, please come prepared with cleaning buckets, rags, garden tools, etc. Thank you in advance for your support in keeping our campus clean!
Monday, June 5, at 7:00pm, piano students under the direction of Coni Liljengren will have their recital in the Ark. Everyone is welcome to attend this special event!
Thursday, June 8, is our annual School Picnic. The Booster’s will serve lunch in the Ark at 12:00pm, followed by “A Pie in the Face” for Mr. Sorn! Around 12:45pm, we will leave for Gonyea Park (13422 10th Ave., Tacoma, WA 98444) for an afternoon of baseball, field games, and more! The picnic will end at 3:00pm. Extended Care will be available after the picnic until 6:00pm. Permission slips were sent home last week. It is each parent’s responsibility to arrange transportation for their child. Please list the name of the person responsible for driving your child to Gonyea on the Permission Form, and turn it into your child’s teacher.
Volunteers Needed: The Boosters are in need of help, organizing and running field day games at the school picnic. Please contact the school office if you are interested in volunteering.
Kindergarten Parents: It is not mandatory that Kindergarten students attend because they will have already attended a Family Picnic with Pre-K students on Friday, June 2, but you and your child are welcome to attend. All kindergarten students that do not plan on attending the picnic will need to be picked up at 12:00pm.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL / PLS CLOSING SERVICE / EARLY DISMISSAL
The last day of school for grades K thru 8, with early dismissal at 12:00pm, is Friday, June 9. The Closing Service is at 10:00am followed by the Class of 2017 Kindergarten Graduation and End of Year Awards. Everyone is invited to attend!
Extended Care will be open from 12:00pm until 6:00pm. If your child will be attending Extended Care, please be sure to send along a lunch. Snacks will be provided in the afternoon.
HAVE YOU REGISTERED YET?
Just a reminder to those families who have not yet registered students for the 2017-2018 school year, June 9, 2017 is another discount deadline. The registration fee for full day Kindergarten through 8th grade is $300 per student, if paid by June 9; and goes up to $350 if paid on or after June 10. The registration fee for Pre-K and half day Kindergarten is $150 per student, if paid by June 9; and goes up to $175 if paid on or after June 10. Should you need another set of registration forms, please contact the school office.
8TH GRADE GRADUATION
Sunday, June 11, at the 10:30 service, we will be graduating our 8th Grade Class of 2017. A reception will follow the service in the Ark. All students in grades K thru 7 are asked to attend and sing for the graduation. Everyone is invited to join us for both the service and the reception. Congratulations to the following students:

ELHS SUMMER CAMPS
Evergreen Lutheran High School is offering summer camps for Baseball (boys incoming grades 5-9), Volleyball (girls incoming grades 5-9), Basketball (boys & girls incoming grades 3-9), STEM (incoming grades 6-9), and Spanish (incoming grades 6-9). For general information about these camps, please contact the ELHS office at 253-946-4488. Registration forms can be found on the PLS website and are also available outside of the PLS office.
CAMP 4 STAR
Camp 4 Star will be held July 9 thru 15 this year! Camp is for 10 to 15 year olds. Bring your friends and spend a week outdoors at Millersylvania State Park. Enjoy the sunshine, swimming, group activities, Bible class, arts, crafts, singing, and campfire activities. We have a lifeguard on duty, night watchmen, cooks, and a nurse.
