Parkland Evangelical Lutheran Church enjoys a rich heritage by God’s grace through many generations of faithful Lutherans. It began in 1893 with a group of Norwegian Lutherans but now consists of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Parkland Lutheran is a member church of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS), which is in fellowship with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). These church bodies were part of the Synodical Conference along with the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LC-MS) until the 1960s. Parkland Lutheran School provides an educational program beginning with pre-kindergarten and continuing through the eighth grade. We partner with Evergreen Lutheran High School for grades 9-12. Children must be four years old for pre-kindergarten and five years old for kindergarten. Applicants in other grades are admitted on the basis of previous school records. We offer a sound basic education from a Christian perspective, daily religion classes, regular devotions, a weekly children’s chapel service, and all traditional subjects are prescribed by the State Board of Education. (Upon graduation from the eighth grade, students from Parkland Lutheran School can transfer to other schools, public or private, without any difficulty.)
