THE PLS COMMUNICATOR IS YOUR PRIMARY SOURCE OF INFORMATION
Your child’s Gradelink account is a great resource for finding information about your child’s attendance, recorded volunteer hours, grades & assignments (grades 3 thru 8), updates from your child’s teacher, etc. An email was sent today with information about how to login to your child’s account.
Students are encouraged to bring a personal water bottle to school every day as water fountains have been disabled due to Covid-19 restrictions.
DRESS CODE REMINDERS
Please remember this aspect of our dress code:

Remember, PLS T-shirts may be worn on Fridays, for field trips, and are required for P.E. in grades 5 thru 8. Order forms may be turned in via your child’s take home folder no later than Monday, September 28. (Checks should be made payable to PLS Boosters.) Order forms can also be found on the PLS website.
NEW BIRTHDAY TREAT PROCEDURES
If you would like to drop-off treats for your child’s birthday, please make an appointment with the school office prior to bringing the treats. Please note: Due to Covid-19 restrictions birthday & holiday treats must be store-bought; no homemade treats for birthdays & holidays. Also, please remember that we are a nut-free campus. Treats must not contain peanuts/tree nuts or be made in a facility with peanuts/tree nuts. Thank you for your help in keeping our students safe.
INTRODUCTION TO LUTHERANISM CLASSES
All parents who are not members of Parkland Lutheran Church are expected to attend the “Introduction to Lutheranism” class, preferably the first year they have students at PLS. In this class you will hear what your children will be taught in their religious instruction and you will have an opportunity to discuss and ask questions. If you cannot make it to the class, please let the office know, perhaps a later offering of this class can be arranged. Pastor Gullixson will teach this class from 6:30pm to 7:30 pm on the evenings of Tuesday, October 6 & 13. We will meet in the church sanctuary, entering through the church doors on 123rd St S (Dominoes side of school).
We will also be offering a class called “Christianity 101” which goes into more detail regarding the teachings of the Christian faith. Some take this class to become members of Parkland Lutheran Church, others take it as a refresher course and still others take the class to learn more what Parkland Lutheran Church & School teaches. This fifteen-week class will meet on Tuesdays, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, in the upstairs conference room of the Church. If you are interested in taking this class, please contact the church office at 253-537-5492.
In an effort to continue open communication with our parents, we are using the Remind101 program. This service allows PLS to instantly text you with important information, such as school closings due to weather or other school wide notifications. Please consider subscribing to this automated text service, if you have not done so already. You can unsubscribe at any time. To subscribe, text @PLS to 81010 or visit https://www.remind.com/join/pls using class code is @pls.
