THE PLS WEEKLY COMMUNICATOR IS YOUR PRIMARY SOURCE OF INFORMATION

BOOSTER MEETING
Our next Booster meeting is Thursday, February 21, at 6:30pm. Meetings are held in Mr. Sorn’s classroom. Everyone is invited to attend and your time does count toward your 30 volunteer hours.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
PLS students will again participate in the American Heart Association’s program, Jump Rope for Heart. Jump Rope for Heart raises money to fund research and treatment for heart disease, as well as educational materials for prevention. Last year 53 students participated raising $2,175 in donations. Our goal this year is to have 55 students participate and collect over $2,200.00. Donations are due by Wednesday, February 20. The event will be Friday, February 22. If you questions or would like to help with the event, please contact Mrs. Rogich.

PLS SOCK HOP & SOCK DRIVE
The Boosters will be hosting a 50’s style Sock Hop & Sock Drive Friday, February 22, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the Ark (gym). The Boosters will be collecting new socks at the door for the Wishing Well, a foundation that benefits local foster children. Admission is free! There will be a Soda Shoppe with milkshakes, ice cream, and Italian sodas for sale!

Interested in volunteering for this event? A volunteer sign-up sheet is located outside of the school office. Remember, a total of 30 volunteer hours is required before the end of the year.

AUCTION VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The Boosters are in need of help with this year’s auction in the following areas:

Auction Donation Procurement: The Boosters are in need of volunteers to deliver auction request letters to local businesses. Letters are located outside of the school office.

Table Setup: We are in need of someone to help Mr. Rafael set up tables and chairs in the afternoon of Thursday, March 21.

Dessert Dash: The auction committee is asking for dessert items to be delivered to the school on Friday, March 22, for the auction’s Dessert Dash. All donations are tax deductible and go to a great cause. Also, time spent making/procuring desserts for the auction counts towards Volunteer Hours!

Decorating Help: We are looking for volunteers to help our auction committee decorate the Ark in the afternoon/evening of Friday, March 22.

If you are able to help out in any of the areas above, sign-up sheets are located outside of the school office. Thanks in advance for your willingness to help!

TELSS OLYMPICS – IMPORTANT!
Attention parents of students in grades 1 thru 8: If you have a standard WA state driver’s license (not enhanced), please check your license for the verbiage “federal restrictions apply” or “federal limits apply”. As of July 2018, this verbiage is printed on all standard WA state licenses. This means that if you have had your license renewed since last summer, and do not have an enhanced license, you will need a second form of ID, such as a passport, to enter JBLM. Please see below for more details about this year’s TELSS Olympics.

The time has come to complete the forms to request access onto JBLM for the TELSS Olympics. You must register every person who is over the age of 16 that will be in your car. The names must match exactly with the information you put on the form, including middle names. These forms will be sent home today and are due back by Friday, February 22. If you will have more than 3 in your car over the age of 16, there are extra forms available in the school office. You will also need to show proof of current registration and insurance upon entering JBLM, as well as a valid driver’s license. (JBLM will be accepting standard driver’s licenses until 2020. HOWEVER, if a driver’s license has the verbiage “federal restrictions apply” or “federal limits apply”, that individual will need a second form of ID, such as a passport.) Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

All students in grades 1 thru 8 are expected to participate in the TELSS Olympics on Friday, May 3. This is an annual track & field event day. It is each parent’s responsibility to not only provide transportation, but also supervision during the day. If you are not able to attend, please let your child’s teacher know who will be responsible for your child at the event.
