TELSS ACADEMIC BOWL RESULTS
All students in grades 5 thru 8 did a great job at the TELSS Academic Bowl last Friday. Congratulations to the following students, for a job well done!

Our second round of MAP testing for grades 2 thru 8 will begin today, April 15, thru Friday, April 19. This is the standardized testing that tells us how our students are doing compared to other students in the United States. The best way to prepare for these tests is to simply be well-rested, be to school on time, and to have eaten a good breakfast.
CHAPEL DAY CHANGES THIS WEEK
This week is Holy Week and we will be having our Chapel Day on Good Friday, April 19, at 8:40am. Please be sure your child is dressed in their chapel attire this Friday.
HOLY WEEK SERVICES AT PARKLAND LUTHERAN CHURCH
Everyone is invited to join us for any of our Holy Week services. Service times and places are listed below:
• 4/18 Maundy Thursday Services: 2:00pm & 6:30pm
• 4/19 Good Friday Services: 2:00pm & 7:30pm
• 4/21 Easter Sunday Services:
o Sunrise @ Cemetery 6:00am
o Festival Communion Service 8:00am & 10:30am
Breakfast in the ark 7:00-10:00am
There will be no school next Monday, April 22 thru Friday, April 26, due to Easter Break. School will resume Monday, April 29.
Thank you to all who came to our 2019-2020 Registration Day. It was great to see many of you there! If you were not able to make it, listed below are some important dates to keep in mind.
• 2019-2020 TUITION RATES:
o Full Day Registration Paid March 29 thru June 8: $320
o Full Day Registration Paid After June 8: $370
o Full Day Tuition: $5,900 per child
2 in a family: $5,200 per child
3 in a family: $4,800 per child
4 in a family: $4,400 per child
o Half Day Registration Paid March 29 thru June 8: $160
o Half Day Registration Paid After June 8: $185
o Half Day Tuition: $3,000
o Extended Care: $6 per hour
o Full Tuition paid by August 1, 2019: $300 discount will apply if not on a scholarship
Those families looking to apply for a need-based scholarship, who have not done so already, should apply soon as possible. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis and may not be available after this week. For information and instructions on how to apply, click on the following link.
HELP ADVERTISE PLS
Please help us advertise PLS by putting out a “Now Enrolling, Parkland Lutheran School” yard sign in front of your house or place of business. If you do not have one already, signs are available outside of the school office. Thanks for your help in advertising PLS to our community!
There are still quite a few opportunities to volunteer this school year. Remember, a total of 30 volunteer hours are due by the end of this school year (any unfulfilled hours will be billed out at $20 per hour.) If you are interested in helping out with any of the following activities, sign-up sheets are located outside of the school office.
• Teacher Appreciation Day Lunch/Recess Duty: Thursday, May 9, 11:45am to 1:45am
• PLS 125th Anniversary Program Refreshment Service/Cleanup: Friday, May 17, 7:30pm
• May Booster Meeting: Thursday, May 23, 6:30pm
• School Picnic (Grades 1 thru 8): Thursday, June 6, 12:00pm to 3:00pm
• Campus Clean Up Day #1: Saturday, June 1, 9:00am
• Campus Clean Up Day #2: Saturday, June 8, 9:00am
There are also a variety of odd jobs that need to be done around campus at a mutually agreeable time. These job requests are located outside of the school office.
Please be sure to turn in your volunteer hours so that you get the correct credit for your time. TELSS GROUP BAND CONCERT
PLS band students taught by Mrs. Jodi Wosje, will join other TELSS band students in the area for a group concert at Evergreen Lutheran High School on Friday, May 10, at 7:00pm. The concert will feature TELSS grade school bands as well as the Evergreen Lutheran High School Band. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this fun night of music!
PLS UPPER GRADE LOCK-IN
The PLS Upper Grade Lock-In Night, for PLS students in grades 5 thru 8, is Friday, May 10. On the night of the Lock-In, students must arrive at 8:00pm (please note the time change) as the doors will be “locked” until 8:00am sharp the next day. (Students can pre-arrange for an “early release” at 11:00pm only.) Students will be provided dinner on Friday and a light breakfast on Saturday. Some snacks will also be provided, but students can bring their favorites from home as well! Students should be picked up promptly at 8:00am on Saturday. The cost is $25 per student (checks payable to PLS Boosters). If your child would like to participate, please see Mrs. Straling in the school office. Remember, proceeds go towards improving campus security!
SAVE THE DATE!
The PLS 125th Anniversary Spring Program for all grades, Pre-K thru 8, will be held on Friday, May 17, at 7:00pm. Come and join us for a fun evening of entertainment. Everyone is invited to attend the performance in the Ark!
NO UNIFORM DAY
We will be having a “No Uniform Day” Friday, May 24. The cost is $10 per student (checks payable to PLS Boosters). If your child would like to participate, please see Mrs. Straling in the school office. Remember, proceeds go towards improving campus security!
PLS 2019-20 ANNUAL CALENDAR
The PLS 2019-20 Annual Calendar is available electronically on PLS website. Hard copies are also available outside of the school office. Changes will be announced in the weekly Communicator.
CAMP 4 STAR
Registration is open for Camp 4 Star 2019! Camp 4 Star was started in 1959 to provide a week-long experience for youth in the area WELS/ELS churches. It continues to serve as a place for kids to meet new friends, gain new experiences and have fun with fellow Christians! Camp 4 Star runs from July 7 thru 13, and is open to ages 10 thru 15. Registration forms and more information for Camp 4 Star can be found by visiting www.camp4star.com or by emailing email@example.com. Register as soon as possible, as space is limited!
ELHS SUMMER CAMPS
Evergreen Lutheran High School is offering summer camps for Soccer (boys & girls entering grades 2-4 & 5-9), Cheer (girls entering grades 1-8), Volleyball (girls entering grades 5-9), Basketball (boys & girls entering grades 3-6 & 7-10), STEM/Robotics (boys & girls entering grades 3-6 & 7-10).
