Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome to Parkland Lutheran School and thank you for checking us out! As we celebrate 130 years of Christ-centered education, we thank God for His abundant blessings and for families like yours who partner with us in nurturing children through a quality Classical Lutheran education. We believe that parents play a vital role in their child’s education. Together, we build a strong foundation for academic success, spiritual growth, and lifelong learning.

At Parkland Lutheran School, we are dedicated to helping parents help their students grow academically, spiritually, and socially. Our mission is:

To provide a quality, Christ-centered education for members of our church and the surrounding community, nurturing children to use their God-given talents in a life of service to their Lord.

We are pleased you are considering our school as a partner in your child’s education. Our admissions policy is designed to serve families who share and support our philosophy, objectives, and standards of education. Our purpose is to provide not simply a private education, but a distinctively Lutheran education grounded in the Word of God.

We embrace the Classical model of education, known as the Trivium, to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning:

• Grammar: Students gather and organize knowledge.
Logic: Students evaluate and connect information thoughtfully.
• Rhetoric: Students apply their understanding to communicate effectively and serve others.

At the heart of everything we do is the message of the Gospel: Jesus Christ is our Savior. He lived a perfect life in our place, died for our sins, and rose again so that we might have eternal life. This truth, revealed in the Bible, is woven into every subject and activity at our school.

Our teachers are committed not only to academic excellence but also to teaching students how to apply the truths of God’s Word to every aspect of life. Each day begins and ends with God’s Word, ensuring that all learning is centered on Him. From mastering mathematics and exploring God’s creation in science to developing critical thinking and moral integrity, students are taught to view all knowledge as part of God’s plan and to use it in service to Him.

We encourage you to review our PLS Handbook, which outlines our religious purpose, mission, policies, and expectations for parents and students. It’s important that you feel aligned with the beliefs and values that will be taught, as this ensures a harmonious learning experience for your child. If our teachings differ from your family’s beliefs, this may lead to confusion or conflict for your child. We encourage open and prayerful reflection as you make this important decision.

As an approved private school by the State of Washington and a member of The Evergreen Lutheran School System (TELSS), we are proud to partner with Evergreen Lutheran High School (www.elhs.org) to provide a seamless PreK–Grade 12 Christian education. Small class sizes, a safe environment, and personalized instruction allow us to nurture the unique strengths and talents of each student while preparing them to be productive, faithful citizens.

Parkland Lutheran School
– Parent Testimonials –

“Our son has appreciated the staff & kids he has come to know and looks forward to the activities (competitions) that the entire school becomes involved in, not just a select few. He also showed the initiative to be baptized during chapel last year, an opportunity that he would not have taken otherwise. The education & small class size that he is receiving cannot be duplicated elsewhere and gives him the chance to be challenged to learn instead of challenged to ignore other distractions. Our daughter became very close to her peers and has formed a bond that she will continue for the years to come. Her dad & I enjoyed her staying a “kid” longer than if she had been in a junior high setting. I appreciate the involvement that each class takes with the other grades. The older kids respect the younger ones, as the younger children learn good behavior from the older students. As a family, we have truly appreciated the opportunity in the last two years both of our children have been given. I think my husband also realizes the opportunity that he gained from attending Parkland years ago. It truly is a school of family history.”

“Parkland Lutheran is small enough that it feels like a family, but large enough that they have a variety of activities to offer students and families. Throughout the school year Parkland Lutheran has many activities to participate in, such as music lessons, the science fair, accelerated reading programs, school musicals, and plays, sports, and many others. I am very happy with the quality of education my kids have received at Parkland Lutheran, and I look forward to our family being a part of the school in the years ahead.”

“My daughter’s first year at Parkland Lutheran has been a very positive experience for her and our family. It was important to us to have a school that taught certain values and beliefs. PLS is a school that does not exclude God from their teaching but praises Him. We feel like our child’s education and well-being really matters to the Teachers and staff at PLS. And that makes a difference.”

“Parkland Lutheran School and Evergreen Lutheran High School made my good kids great!”

“Being able to attend Parkland Lutheran School was a blessing. Every teacher was so dedicated to each child’s spiritual and educational development. Learning was always much more than a boring lecture or a mundane routine. Every day held something new and exciting. I will always be grateful for the dedication and devotion of the faculty at PLS.”

“The teachers here have made a huge impact on my life, and I am very grateful for everything that they have done for me. Everyone is there for one reason; to have a quality education in Christ. So, the students there are great too. The knowledge I have received from Parkland Lutheran School has made functioning in high school so much easier and is a huge part of why I am successful in my life now. I will always remember Parkland for its caring teachers, and dedication to the Word of God.”

“Parkland Lutheran School has changed my life. My children are in a loving environment with people who truly care for them. I love Parkland Lutheran because of the teachers. Mrs. McClung had my son for our first year at PLS. Because of her, all of my step kids are there now, and we will continue to be there until we go on to Evergreen Lutheran High School!”
